Artberg’s periods of work in primaeval forests and on uninhabited islands in the South Pacific in recent years have effected an interesting change in his new works. After the dense pictures from New Zealand and France, with their intensity of colour, his works now have a highly graphic orientation. A reduction to meditative inherent symbolism now predominates. Artberg knows how to combine skilfully elements from old cultures such as the Egyption, Incan, Mayan and from Polynesian cultures such as that of the Aborigines in Australia, with shapes from today‘s Western civilization.
